A note from Hattie:

"The idea for this design arose out of the images I saw on TV during the time
of, and subsequent to, the tragic events of 11 September 2001.
The helicopter camera was transmitting pictures of the attacks on Manhattan
and there at the bottom of my TV screen, almost incidentally it seemed to
me, was the Statue of Liberty. She was dwarfed by the buildings and the
smoke behind her and she looked so vulnerable and isolated out there on her
little island. Yet there she was, still standing and holding aloft that
torch of liberty. It's difficult to explain the effect it had upon me, but
it was an image which refused to leave my mind.
As the days went by and pictures were coming in of the extent of the
devastation, yet another image stuck in my mind. Two damaged sections of one
of the World Trade Centre buildings, sticking up out of the debris and
leaning against each other at crazy angles were silhouetted by the
floodlights against the night sky, and the sheer scale of it all was both
shocking and bewildering.
While I was trying to comprehend it all I remember thinking 'Liberty's still
standing, they haven't destroyed that', meaning of course the Statue.
Almost Immediately, I realized that this thought had another significance,
liberty may come under attack, but it rises up against, and will always
stand tall over tyranny.
My design combines those two images and tries to show just that - I hope you
like it and find many ways to use it.

Having drawn out the design I began trying to digitize it but, I am very
much a newbie to digitizing and finally had to admit that it was going to be
a long time before I could successfully complete it.
I am extremely grateful to Teri Sullivan who came to my rescue and very
generously gave of her time and skill to digitize it for me. She has
provided the design in two sizes and has also included two more files which
have the words 'Liberty Prevails' and 'Liberty Stands Supreme', should you
wish to add lettering to the design.
Other suggestions for suitable wording you could add are:

Liberty Everlasting, Liberty Against Tyranny,
Lands of Liberty Unite, Liberty Lives On,
Rally Round Liberty, Liberty Still Stands,
Liberty Above Everything, The Spirit Of Liberty,
Peace, Freedom and Liberty, Liberty Stands Tall

You may be able to think of something even more fitting or personal, feel
free to add whatever you think is appropriate.
