Cut each sq. into 4 triangles 2.Cut 1-strip width of fabric 9 inches wide for Embroidery. Mark the strip with blue dot each side 4 " down then every 6". May want to starch strip. Iron on a strip of totally stable 9 inches wide. Emb. 5 designs by centering each design lining up with blue dots. Dry iron hoop marks out between designs. Remove stabilizer and dry iron. From the bottom of emb. strip cut 1 background sq. 5 7/8" and cut into 4 triangles. 3. Sew 4 star triangles to 4 background triangles— Sew 2 star triangles to each other (Total of 4) Press all seams toward the dark fabric. Join these to 1/2 triangles of star & background. Look at finished wall hanging. 4. Cut embroidery blocks into 5-inch squares. By lining up blue dots. Plan layout. Sew blocks together in strips. Then join strips. 5. Cut two border strips 2 ½ to 3 ½" the width of the fabric. Leave 3 to 4" overhang & start in ¼-inch in and end ¼" from corner ends (Diagram 1) Repeat with rest of the border. Press seams toward border. At one corner, lap border strips over other. Align edge of a right triangle with the raw edge of the top strip with the long edge of the triangle intersecting with the border seam in the corner. Mark the line with a pencil. Put bottom border strip on top mark again (diagram 2) Pin marked seams, begin at inside corner with a backstitch sew to edge (diagram 3). Check to see if lays flat. Press and trim to ¼ ". Finish other sides. 6.Tabs—cut a strip 3 ½ " by 16. Seam together along long edge. Press & turn with tube turner-Press again with seam in center. Cut into 4" segments & press in half. Place 1 ½ " from each edge on top & center other two. Baste on tabs. 7.Cut backing 1 inch larger all around & a piece of batting same size. Fasten batting to backing with KK2000. Place backing right side down on right side of wall hanging. Sew ¼ " seam leaving 4" open on side. Trim batting to edge of stitching. Trim backing. Trim corners, turn, press, blind stitch opening. Safety Pin along seams and stitch along star lines with invisible thread on top and bobbin thread matching the backing for quilting. I lengthen the stitch to 3.2. Can use the ditch foot for this. FINISHED. You can make your finished blocks 5 ½ " by starting out with a 6 7/8" block. You could make a quilt from these blocks
