Peggy's Pillow Instructions www.sewterific.com/birdhouse.htm 1. Embroider 5X7 birdhouses on a 10" squares of muslin. 2. Cut 10" squares of batting. Layer 2 birdhouse squares right sides together; place 10" square of batting on top of one birdhouse square. Stitch around all with 1/4" seam, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right side out and press. Whip opening closed. Work 4 buttonholes at each corner of square, beginning each buttonhole 1/2" from top and 1" from each side. Set aside. 3. Select 4 or 5 fabrics used in the appliquéd birdhouses. Tear 2 1/2" strips across selvage from these fabrics. Piece strips together with 1/4" seams. Press well. Cut this pieced strip into 2 1/2" vertical strips. 4. Cut a 12" square of muslin. Seam pieced strips to the top and bottom of muslin square. Press. Seam remaining pieced strips to sides of square. Press. Attach 1" lace next to the pieced border, using a tiny zigzag stitch and mitering corners. 5. Center embroidered square on pillow top and mark button placement. Attach buttons. Cut a 16" square of muslin for pillow back. Lay pillow front on pillow back, right sides together, and stitch around, leaving an opening for stuffing or for inserting pillow form. Insert stuffing/pillow form. Whip opening closed. 6. Button on the appropriate embroidered square for each month and enjoy! Peggy Guerin tbguerin@comcast.net
