Trudi's Kleenex Cover and Embroidered Soap

Another great project idea by Trudi Koch!

Trudi makes these sets as gifts and as craft sale items.  For an even nicer gift, add a coordinating embroidered FTT (Finger Tip Towel).  All the designs used above are available for sale or purchase on the Mix 'n Match pages or Free Design Archive.

Here are Trudi's instructions:

This is a fun project and very easy.

1. Cut your choice of fabric 18 1/2x17 inches.
2. Fold the 18 1/2 in width in half and press. (I like creases to use as guides).
If you are using 45in fabric, cut it so the selvage is at the top of the 18 inches.
You'll see why later. You'll get two covers out of 19in. of fabric.
3. Now, measure from the bottom, up 5 inches, and put a pin across
the crease. This will be the center of your design.
4. Hoop your fabric. Line up the crease and the pin for center markings.
5. Stitch out the design of your choice.
6. Remove from hoop, and measure down from the top, 7 inches.
Mark again, on the crease, with a pin. This is the bottom of your button
hole. Make a button hole, l0 mm.(3/8)
7. Stitch the center back seam.(1/4 in. seam)
8. Line up the center back seam and the center of the design and press.
9. Stitch across the bottom. Don't turn yet.
10. Now, with design in inside, put your Kleenex box inside. You will
see that the sides will stick out like half diamonds. Take a pencil and
draw a line right next to the box. Remove the Kleenex box and sew across
the pencil marks. Trim with pinking shears.
11. Now the selvage is on the top so you don't need to finish it off. Just fold it down about 3 3/4 inches to the inside , just below the button hole, and stitch it down.  Stitch around the cover above the button hole and now your casing is made.  Cut 2 pieces of ribbon, 27 inches long, insert thru button hole.
12. Put in your Kleenex box, pull up and tie your ribbon and admire your great work.

Soap

Easy. Sandwich 1 layer Solvy, one layer of tulle, and another layer of Solvy.
Hoop this and stitch design - remove from hoop -run under water to dissolve the Solvy and press onto the bar of soap.  You could if you like , melt some wax and dip to seal the design. But who would want to use it?  It's a pretty decoration.

Thanks Trudi!
